Job description: As the Civil Engineering Senior Advisor, you will manage all aspects of Civil Engineering design and construction activities for utility-scale renewables projects (wind, solar, and energy storage) throughout the US and serve as an innovative subject matter expert and leader.

This position will report directly to the Engineering Director and is open to the Houston, TX or Denver, CO areas.

Colorado:

The position offers an annual salary range of $119,000 to $162,000 with and is bonus eligible. Any extended offer will be based on the applicant’s experience.

What you’ll do:

  • Lead development of civil and/or foundation technical specifications for project detailed designs and construction/execution by various contractors
  • Evaluate potential project locations for site suitability, based on the site’s geotechnical conditions, hydrology, topography, and other relevant characteristics to inform renewable project design
  • Manage external engineering firms, subcontractors as well as various engineering disciplines (civil, electrical, structural, etc.) to achieve the highest level of engineering and design for project execution
  • Lead designs of foundations, selecting racking/mounting equipment, BESS foundations, access roads, drainage plans, performing relevant calculations, erosion prevention, and other Civil Engineering related tasks throughout the design and construction process
  • Assist procurement in running RFPs and managing the installation, civil, and geotechnical sub-contractors
  • Remain up-to-date on new technologies and regulatory conditions including utility requirements, vendor qualifications, industry best practices, safety standards, and relevant standards development
  • Assist with the training and coaching of new hires as well as mentor junior level engineers, interns, and Co-Op’s
  • Travel to perform site assessments and due diligence of fieldwork throughout the USA in support of site evaluation, project earthworks, and construction activities

Qualifications

What you bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited university or comparable technical knowledge through demonstrated work experience with a solid understanding of civil design, power generation plants, and/or utility systems
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in similar positions, designing renewable energy projects and producing standards, specifications, and documentation
  • Proficiency in civil design tools such as AutoCAD is preferred
  • Experience in the day-to-day interactions with project development and construction teams is highly preferred
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License preferred, but not required
  • PMI Certification preferred, but not required
